A Shimano STEPS EP8 / EP801 / EP600 bike is powered by a Shimano drive, and the battery is proprietary to it. The replacement is one of the system's own packs: Shimano STEPS BT-E8036 (630 Wh, 36 V, 17.5 Ah in-tube); Shimano STEPS BT-EN806 (630 Wh, 36 V in-tube); Shimano STEPS BT-E8016 (630 Wh, 36 V external); Shimano STEPS BT-E8035 (504 Wh, 36 V, 17.5 Ah in-tube); Shimano STEPS BT-E8010 (504 Wh, 36 V, 14 Ah external).
The EP8 family (EP8/EP801/EP600) is Shimano's current e-MTB and trekking drive. The trap is the two 630 Wh batteries: the BT-E8036 is for this generation while the BT-EN806 is a look-alike with a different port. Read the printed model number, do not go by shape.
